Forensic Pathology: Forensic pathology is the branch of forensic medicine which deals with study and application of effects of violence or unnatural disease in its various forms in or on the human body, in determining the cause and manner of death in case of violence suspicious, unexplained, unexpected, sudden and medically unattended deaths.

Forensic anthology: Forensic anthology is the branch of forensic medicine which deals with the medico legal aspects of deaths.

Scope of Forensic medicine:
  1. It deals with those aspects of medical science which are needed for application of scientific facts in
    legal matter, both civil & criminal .
  2. It embraces those aspects of  medicine including its fundamental, physical, chemical & biology principles as such specialities like forensic pathology & toxicology in order to bring it into partnership with the process of law.
  3.  It deals with the application of principles & knowledge of facts of medicine to the purposes of law both civil & criminal.

Definition: It may be defined as the science which deals with legal responsibilities of the physician with particular reference to those arising from physician – patient relationship and application of the rules and regulation for the guidance to medical profession.

Role of Medical Jurisprudence during practice of medicine: It deals with following relationship which are recognized as having legal consequences:
  1. Doctor-patient relationship: responsibilities of the particular reference to those arising from physician-patient relationship such as
                    . Medical negligence cases
                    . Consent
            . Rights & duties of doctors
            .Serious professional misconduct
            . Medical ethics etc
  1. Doctor-doctor relationship: A doctor criticizing his colleagues as doing anything which is unfair competition is liable to face the consequences.
  2. Doctor-state relationship:
    1. in court to give evidence
    2. the police in case of homicidal poising
    3. the public health authorities in case of food poisoning

In short, deals with legal aspects of practice of medicine.
