Procedure of PM in a case of AIDS victim:
1. All infected bodies should be wrapped and tied in double layer tough plastic bag, with a red colour tag mentioning “Biologically Hazardous”.
2. Workers who have exudative lesions or weeping dermatitis or external injury should not handle AIDS victims.
3. Proper protective clothing, full sleeves overall instead of simple surgical gowns, head cap, face mask, goggles if eye glasses are not worm, double gloves, waterproof rubber gumboot of knee length with show covers.
4. Handling sharp instruments: Avoid accidental pricks and cut from needles, scalpels etc.
5. Handling specimens for laboratory examination: The should be properly labeled and filled with 10% formalin solution and should be handled with gloved hand.
6. Disposal of used instruments.
7. All soiled gauge and cotton should be collected in a double plastic bag for incineration.
8. Laundry material; such as aprons, towel etc. are washed with detergent and hot water and autoclaved.
9. Clean up procedure: Wear new intact disposable gloves.
10. Disinfectants: Liquid chemical germicides, commonly uses in laboratories are effective against HIV.
11. After completing autopsy, hands and face should be washed with soap and water and rinsed in 70% methylated spirit.
Opinlon After Completion of Autopsy:
Opinion as the case of death can be given in the following ways.
1. Injury: In my opinion death was due to haemorrhage and shock as a result of above mentioned injuries which are anti mortem and homicidal in nature.
2. Fire arm injury: In my opinion death was due to shock and haemorrhage as a result of above mentioned injuries and are cause by projectile discharge from fire arm which are anti mortem and homicidal/accidental/suicidal in nature.
3. Asphyxial death: In my opinion death was due to asphyxia resulted from hanging/strangulation/drowning which is anti mortem, and homicidal/accidental/suicidal in nature.
4. Rape: In my opinion from above data and configuration she has had forcible sexual intercourse and her present age is about 16 years.
5. Poisoning: In case of suspected poisoning the preliminary opinion can be given in the following way: “Opinion as to the cause of death kept reserved, pending until the receipt or chemical examiner’s report”.
Death Autopsy In Required In Our Country:
1. Dead bodies of known or unknown person who are the victims of un natural death or those cases when the cause of death is not known as homicidal death, suicidal death.
2. Mutilated bodies or fragments.
3. Skeleton or isolated bones.
Autopsy Report:
1. Preamable: This should mention the authority ordering the examination, time of arrival of the body at the mortuary, the date and place of examination, the name, age, sex and address of the deceased and the means by which the body was identified.
2. Body of report: Consists of complete description of external and internal examination of the body.
3. Conclusion: Opinion of the medical examiner about the cause and nature of death.
